Now the I’ve pretty much wrapped up the live project, I’ve concentrated my attention on doing some Flash based animation (in my spare time I am mainly writing – I’ll blog about this later). The image below shows the sequence I’ve recently completed for a cartoon dog. It’s mainly just a practice but I think it looks good.
The final animation will likely make my portfolio.
The animation itself is short and I am about to complete a background for the sequence. I’ll post the final piece up here when I add to my portfolio and I also post up the another flash animations when I get around to finishing them.

Live -Front Page
I’ve been working on the Live Project website, whilst juggling a few other things. It is almost finished and will have 5 images (although I plan to add to it in the future).
I’ve put a snapshot of the front page below. The full website should be on my portfolio site in a few weeks.
New Sketch
Done this sketch recently. I’ve been caught up in work, but I will have a post about the Live project soon and hopefully some more anatomy sketches, as well as lots of new photos.
Animal Magic Tricks on Somnambulations – Again
A second strip on Somnambulations. Again Illustrated by Robbie and looking great.
The original script for this was accepted by the now defunct Wasted Magazine. It never got published in time so it is great to see it here.
Animal Magic Tricks on Somnambulations
I was writing a comic book series for Wasted Magazine. This was a quarterly magazine published by Bad Press. Several months ago Bad Press went into liquidation and stop publishing. Bad Press only published 1 strip, but I had written 7.
The excellent Ronnie Tucker Illustrated the stories and we were looking forward to seeing more Animal Magic Tricks in print.
Since Bad Press went into liquidation I contacted Ronnie to see if he wanted to carry on the series as a web comic.
He suggested we host it over at his current web comic Somnabulations. At the moment Animal Magic Tricks is a guest strip over there.
I’ve put a link to the 1st strip below. More issues will come soon.
I’m glad that the strip is seeing the light of day. Ronnie’s artwork is fantastic and the series has given me a chance to practice my storytelling. Enjoy!!!
Developing Illustration – Image 2
Developing Illustration
I’ve pretty much been on holiday for the past week or so. I’ve been to see a few things at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and I done a Summer School class at the Edinburgh College of Art – Developing Illustration.
I undertook a project where I drew 6 images inspired by a Poem – The Fog by FR McCreary. I’ll post up the images later. The weeks was excellent, where most of the time was spent trying new techniques and experimenting to bring out the story of the poem.
Here is one of the images I created.
Live – 4
Here is the fourth image in the Live Illustration project. It has been created to look like a Polaroid Picture. I am currently created a Flash presentation to display the Live images. I plan to create 5 images in total and present them on my portfolio website.
The image was taken in Cellardyke Town Hall during the Fence Records Homegame Festival in May 2011. The artist is the fantastic James Yorkston.
