Memoir Project – Clown Noses – Preview Page 2

Another page from my Memoir Project Submission. Clown Noses. This is one of my first attempts at concrete poetry. Just thought I’d try something new. I’m not too sure that this page is quite representative of the book as a whole or if it is even a memoir, but I think it is quite an interesting image that makes use of words and imagery.

Noise Project – Week 2 – The Little Things

Below is a sample (not the full image) from my response to Week 2 of the Noise Intercepted project. More on this at my previous blog post. The Noise Project is run by the Toronto based arts organsiation – Labspace Studio.
For this image I followed the brief below. The title of the week’s challenge was ‘The Little Things’.

NOISE CHALLENGE #2: THE LITTLE THINGS
This week spend some time paying attention to the little things…. the sounds that you tend to ignore and the seemingly insignificant noises that you take for granted. You have 1 week to listen, identify and select one “insignificant” sound and transform it into something “significant.”

My full response to the brief can be found here.

Memoir Project – Clown Noses – Preview Page 1.

The Memoir Project is run by the Arhouse co-op in Brooklyn New York, where they have asked 500 writers and artists to complete a 32 page booklet and turn it into a Memoir. This is from the same organisation who run The Sketchbook Project, where I created my book – ‘Fashion Design For Monsters‘. My Memoir is called ‘Clown Noses’ and is a series of poems and pictures, making use of concrete poetry and imagery to act as a Memoir. The Book will go on tour in various cities in North America. More on this later, but below is an image from my book. I won’t be posting up all the pages, just a selection.

To This Day Project

I was recently involved in creating an animation for a project called To This Day. This was an anti bullying initiative from the Canadian Poet Shane Koyczan (who I saw at the Edinburgh Fringe last year- He was fantastic).
The brief was to anime a short section of one of his poems (To This Day) and then clips from various animators will be edited together. This was my first piece of animation for a while and my first piece of Machinima animation since 2008.
Below is the final video. My clip unfortunately got edited out, however my name is still in the credits and my animation can be viewed at this link.

6*"4 Exhibition

I have some artwork in an exhibition in Dundee. The exhibition involved creating some artwork on a postcard and is called 6*”4. This is something I have done before but for this exhibition I wanted to do something different.
I created an illustrated poem called Leaves.
The exhibition details can be found here. It is on at the Cooper Gallery, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, 13 Perth Rd, Dundee, DD1 4HT until March 27. Details of the exhibition are below. I will post up my work later.
