Letters We Leave Behind

In 2016 I was awarded a residency from the National Theatre of Scotland as part for their Starter for Ten scheme.  During the residency I created the framework for a new installation involving puppetry, games and kinetic animation. Letters We Leave Behind is a special performance involving 5 puppets that the player manipulates in an installation space. The puppet gives a letter to the player . There are five letters (one for each puppet) and they tell the story of the show. The audience read the letters in the installation space and the words to take them on a journey.

Letters We Leave Behind delves into topics of autism, self-care, loneliness, solitude and mental illness. It deals with adult themes relating to autism in a mature and transgressive way. Letters We Leave Behind also had a 2 week development period at Paisley Arts Centre and was performed at the Out of Place Festival in Paisley. The Private Play was also performed at Dundee Rep during their Rep Stripped Festival 2019.
