Quiet Forest Exhibition – Forest Cafe – 6th of August 2013

Several years ago I designed a poster to promote a series of gigs to save the Forest Cafe in Edinburgh. The cafe has now moved to a new home at 141 Laurieston Place in Edinburgh. On the 6th of August the excellent words and performance group Inky Fingers are having an exhibition of installation Poetry at the new Forest Cafe. I will have some artwork in the exhibition – A poem comic collection called Bad Teenage Poetry. I will post up some images of this later.

Noise Project – Week 9 – Free For All

Here is another sample image (not the full one) for my response to the Noise Project Week 9 – Free for all. For this one I was looking at the sounds of the city. I didn’t want to use photography, but wanted to illustrate an image. The city I live in can be quiet. I took a walk down a fairly busy street one warm eveing and developed a response. The brief for the response is below:
NOISE CHALLENGE #9: THE FREE FOR ALL

You’ve got 1 week to create whatever you want. One rule: It has to be inspired by the sounds of your city.

 NOISE CHALLENGE #8: THE PORTRAIT

This week’s noise challenge is all about…YOU. Spend some time tapping into your own unqique auditory output. What sound(s) might define you personally? Your challenge this week is to create a sonic sound portrait, one that you feel quintessentially represents you, your life, your everyday, or your essence. What might your personal sonic sound portrait look like… sound like? feel like? You have 1 week to share your findings.

NOISE CHALLENGE #7: THE CUES

There are a myriad of noises in our everyday lives that trigger responses. Noise can be thought of as information. From alarm clocks to cross walks, these informational “cues” establish an auditory framework that dictate our patterns of everyday behaviour. This week pay close attention to the informational “cues” that make up your personal everyday experience. Choose one informational “cue” to hone in on. Use this “cue” as inspiration for your next post.
