I’ve no idea what I was trying to do it these sketches. I was trying something new in photoshop with portraits, but I don’t know what. Sometimes it can be hard to experiment in digital media and sometimes it doesn’t work.

With these images I’m looking at costume design and character. Using pencil and fine liners to get different results I am trying to express the different emotions that the costumes can present. I am also taking influences from the photography of Helmut Newton and the fashion designs of Thierry Mugler.

Game Images
A while ago I completed an art test for a video games company in Dundee. Basically before they get you in for an interview they ask you to create some sample images. I created the images and they emailed me back to tell me the position was already filled.
Disappointing, never the less I got two pretty decent images out of it. Here they are below.

The second sketch that I’ve done of the Lewis Chessmen. This, as with the previous image, was illustrated using pencil. Less of an experiment and more of a departure from life drawing.

I created this a while ago for a digital arts festival in Dundee. The image was part of an open competition to design a logo. I never won the competition, but here is the image.
